On 5 October 2022, Edalex took part in the NeLC webinar series on the topic of “Stackable Micro-Credentials in K-12 and Higher Education”.
This webinar offer an international context around stackable micro-credentials from Secondary High School, Higher Education, and technology enablement perspectives. The panelists have had significant experience in setting micro-credentialing strategy both across an institution and across educational sectors. They also have operational experience in the implementation of those micro-credentialing strategies to optimise learner outcomes.

Objectives
To help the audience understand the international context for stackable micro-credentials in formal education – the regulatory parameters, the market forces and the innovative projects underway
To provide scaffolding for developing micro-credentialing strategies within education institution across sectors
To highlight the need for a twin strategy track of learning architecture and technology architecture to achieve scalable and equitable learning outcomes
About the Panelists

Professor Kevin Ashford-Rowe Professor Kevin Ashford-Rowe is institutional lead for digital learning at the Queensland University of Technology. He also leads the University’s Learning and Teaching Unit. He has been an active participant in the Leading Change Institute since 2012. Kevin has a wealth of experience in strategic leadership, management, development and implementation of innovative and flexible education and training delivery at all levels of curriculum design, development and delivery. He also has a particular research interest in authentic assessment. He has previously worked at the Australian Catholic University and Griffith University. He is the immediate past President of Council of Australasian University Leaders in Learning and Teaching. An Officer in the Royal Australian Army Education Corps, Kevin holds a reserve appointment at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. |

Dr Donna Harvey Donna has been a trailblazer in advocating for equitable recognition of learning related to employability skills. She has led the innovative and highly successful micro-credentialing program at Beenleigh High School that connects her students to both local industry and pathways to further learning. The program improves student employability outcomes by focusing on the skills that aren’t covered in the curriculum and issuing recognition via digital badges. |

She is passionate about the positive impact of technology within education and the enablement of lifelong learning and agility.
