In the second part of this webinar series, the panelists examine the dynamic state of the skills movement, the move towards skills-based hiring and skills-based learning and the requirement from a business perspective that need to be in a place to facilitate this change.
They also address the need to consider the unlying technology stack to ensure both human and machine visibility at scale via open linked data standards
Objectives
- To help the audience understand the global context for stackable micro-credentials from an industry perspective – the emerging skills ecosystem, the market forces and the innovative projects underway
- To provide scaffolding for developing micro-credentialing strategies for professional bodies and businesses
- To highlight the need for a twin strategy track of learning architecture and technology architecture to achieve scalable and equitable learning outcomes

About the Panelists

Professor Kevin Ashford-Rowe Professor Kevin Ashford-Rowe is institutional lead for digital learning at the Queensland University of Technology. He also leads the University’s Learning and Teaching Unit. He has been an active participant in the Leading Change Institute since 2012. Kevin has a wealth of experience in strategic leadership, management, development and implementation of innovative and flexible education and training delivery at all levels of curriculum design, development and delivery. He also has a particular research interest in authentic assessment. He has previously worked at the Australian Catholic University and Griffith University. He is the immediate past President of Council of Australasian University Leaders in Learning and Teaching. An Officer in the Royal Australian Army Education Corps, Kevin holds a reserve appointment at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. |

Doctor Asheley Jones Asheley Jones is a Director with Zena Consulting, which was established to provide strategic leadership in the policy development, planning and implementation of professional development, workforce planning and talent management services across organisations. Zena’s mission is to help identify industry skill requirements and individual employee capabilities to enhance business performance through the development of targeted L&D programs to improve requisite work-readiness skills. Recent projects include: the development of industry-verified, evidence-based employability credentials, aligned to the Australian and European Qualification Frameworks, the creation of a skills assessment tool to benchmark skills capabilities across industry verticals; the strategic development of accreditation processes for both Vocational Education Training and Higher Education programs, as well as the completion of a Victorian Government grant looking at implementing IT innovation within the aged care sector. |
